Hello,
My name is Tucker DiNapoli and I'm interested in working on vc this
summer as a part of google summer of code, via CERT SFT. I have a lot of
experience working with sse and avx simd instructions and I would be very
interested in working on other architectures or with gpu code. Most of my
experience in SIMD programming is in assembly and C, and in general I don't
have a ton of C++ specific programming experience (though I have a lot of
experience in C, and various other languages). Looking at the code of vc
most of the complexity seems to be in templates, which I understand pretty
well (since I'm pretty well versed in c preprocessor macros and lisp
macros, and templates
are sort of a fusion of the two). The description of the project on the
page for CERN gsoc projects says very good C++ knowledge is required, so
the main purpose of this post is to ask if the knowledge I have of C++ is
enough or if I should look at other projects. Also I just wanted to
introduce myself.
